Decide on a tone

You’ll want the tone of your wedding vows to complement the theme of your wedding. Serious, fun or simply from the heart, it’s important to make sure you and your partner are on the same page when it comes to how much you want to share with your guests.

Do your research

Watch some romantic movies or read some poetry to get into the romantic spirit – you might even come across some good lines to incorporate into your own nuptials!

Tell your story

How did you first meet? How long have you known each other? Where did you go on your first date? These are all the types of things you can reminisce in your vows for an extra thoughtful touch.

State your vows

Vows are all about making promises to each other. Whether you promise to support your partner through good times and bad, or simply to always share your favourite dessert, be sure to throw in one or two sincere promises to show how much you really care.

Read them out loud

Reading your vows out loud or practicing them in front of a close friend is always a good idea, especially if you have a tendency to get a bit emotional. Memorising them word for word and getting used to saying them loud enough for all to hear will also help you to feel more comfortable when it comes to reciting them in front of an audience on for your big day.
